Start with the range, not the brochure
Check that the maker produces the construction you need: needle punched or thermal bonded, the fibre (polyester, polypropylene, viscose or a blend), and the GSM and width range. At Kiran Nonwovens the range runs from 100 to 1200 GSM in roll widths of 5.0–5.2 m — see needle punched vs thermal bonded if you are still choosing a construction.
Can they make to your specification?
Standard grades suit many buyers, but automotive, filtration, geotextile and footwear applications often need a custom GSM, thickness or fibre blend. Ask whether the plant produces to order, and what they need from you to quote — our quote checklist shows the details that matter.
Ask for samples and test your own process
A sample run through your own cutting, laminating, moulding or installation tells you more than a datasheet. Ask whether samples are available and what they cover, then see how to test a nonwoven felt sample for what to check.
Understand who actually makes the material
Some exporters trade, some manufacture, and some work with a manufacturing partner. All can be valid, but you should know which applies. Kiran Nonwovens exports material made at the plant of its manufacturing partner, Miracle Nonwoven Industries — details are on our manufacturing page.
Test reports and standards
Tell the supplier early which tests or standards your market requires, for example GSM, thickness, tensile, permeability or flammability figures. Ask which reports can be provided with a shipment, and confirm anything that matters for your tender.
Export paperwork and packing
Confirm the documents you need, how rolls are packed for sea or air freight, and the delivery terms you prefer. Felt and nonwovens fall under chapter 56 of the Harmonized System; confirm the exact code with your customs broker.
