The main nonwoven processes
- Spunbond — continuous filaments laid into a web and bonded; light, strong fabrics for bags, agriculture, hygiene and medical covers
- Spunlace — fibres entangled with water jets; soft, drapable fabric used for wipes and medical products
- Meltblown — very fine fibres; used where fine filtration is needed, for example in masks and filter layers
- Needle punched — fibres entangled mechanically with barbed needles; thick, dense felt for geotextile, automotive, filtration and industrial use
- Thermal bonded — a web of fibres with a low-melt component fused by heat; lighter, loftier material for insulation, linings and padding
Most Indian manufacturers specialise in one or two of these. A company that is excellent at spunbond for carry bags is not necessarily the right source for a 600 GSM geotextile.
Match the process to your product
- Thin, light, smooth fabric for bags, covers or hygiene — look for spunbond or spunlace producers
- Fine filtration layers — look for meltblown producers
- Thick felt, geotextile, automotive felt, filter felt or padding — look for needle punched producers
- Light, lofty insulation or lining material — look for thermal bonded producers
Kiran Nonwovens works in the last two groups: needle punched and thermal bonded felt and geotextile, in a 100–1200 GSM range and roll widths of 5.0–5.2 m. We do not make spunbond, spunlace or meltblown fabric, and we would rather say so than quote on something we cannot supply well.
What to check in any manufacturer
- Does the plant make the construction you need, in your GSM and width?
- Will it make to your specification, or only sell standard grades?
- Can you get a sample to test in your own process?
- Who actually makes the material, and where?
- Which test reports can it provide for your market?
- What export documents and packing does it provide?
Our buyer checklist for nonwoven manufacturers goes through each point, and our quote checklist lists what to send so you get an accurate price the first time.
Where our material is made
Kiran Nonwovens exports material made at the plant of its manufacturing partner, Miracle Nonwoven Industries, in Phagi, Jaipur. You agree the specification with us, approve a sample, and the order is produced and shipped against it. See the manufacturing page for the processes, and the needle punched felt page for the range and how an order works.
Where needle punched nonwoven is used
The main uses of the material we make are geotextile for roads, railways and drainage (see geotextile for road construction in India), automotive felt (see the NVH felt guide), filter felt (see the dust collector felt guide), footwear and apparel components, flooring, packaging and medical padding.
Buying from within India
Our office is in Adarsh Nagar, Jaipur, and the material is made at our partner’s plant in Phagi, Jaipur. Where we are, which processes we run and what to send for a domestic order are on our India page.
Buying from India as an overseas importer
Confirm the construction, fibre, GSM and width first, then the paperwork: the HS code (see our HS code guide), test reports your market asks for, and how the rolls are packed for sea or air freight. Send your specification through the enquiry form and our export team replies with specifications and pricing. Samples are available on request.
Questions
What types of nonwoven fabric are made in India?
Spunbond, spunlace, meltblown, needle punched and thermal bonded nonwovens are all made in India. Each suits different uses, and most manufacturers specialise in one or two processes.
Which Indian manufacturer is the best for nonwoven fabric?
There is no single best. The right one depends on the process, GSM, width and application you need. Check that the plant makes your construction, will make to your specification and can provide samples and test reports.
